Vatsayana Kamasutra Book In Malayalam Pdf വാതിച്ച ക ملاہسونڈ ---excerpt from the introduction of the translated version of Vatsyayana's "Kamasutra" in Malayalam, which is the official language in Kerala, India. The present translation was commissioned by Dr. Elamkulam Kunjan Pillai in 1900s when he was a judge in the High Court. The translation was first published in 1934. This book has been re-published by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in Kottayam, India, in 2001. The Kamasutra is rendered into Malayalam by Kaithara Varma under the supervision of Poyyamkuni Induchoodanath. The Malayalam translation appears to be very close to the Sanskrit original but there are important differences seen when comparing them to each other. The structure of this book is similar to that of other translations but it contains many 'filler' sections describing different customs and habits that do not appear in any other Sanskrit or Sanskritist literature. It is these sections that make this translation unique and essential to the study of Vatsyayana's work. The main differences between the Sanskrit and Malayalam translations of Vatsyayana Kamasutra is:A small number of the translated books were printed and circulated in Kerala and India during the 20th century. Interest in this book slowly built up over many years, during which time there was no mention of it in any major Indian newspapers or press. The first major publication came in 1976 when a few pages from this book were published by the Department of Kama Shastra, University Of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The book was mentioned as "Vatsyayana Smritichandrika". The first major publication of this book in Kerala was in 1998 when a series of articles about this translated work appeared in 'Kerala Kaumudi', a Malayalam daily. In 2000, Dr. K. P. Kurup, a retired head of ancient history department of Calicut University, Kerala, India started to translate the Kamasutra from Malayalam into English and was planning to submit it to an academic journal for publishing. But due to its controversial nature and doubtful authenticity, he abandoned his plan and instead decided to post the translation chapters on his personal website called "kamasutrathatreyam". To date, over ninety-seven chapters have been posted. He also announced free download of the first fifty, and it is to date available on his website. In 2001 an online Malayalam magazine called "Kerala Kaumudi", published by the Kerala State Media Department, carried reviews by Nandakumar Bhattathiri and Dr. K P Kurup about this translation for the first time in any Indian newspaper or magazine. These reviews were written 12 years after this translation was first published in Malayalam and 13 years before it was re-published by Kerala Sahitya Akademi and 18 years before the English version was posted on Dr. Kurup's website "kamasutrathatreyam". cfa1e77820
